The tilted monkey no more

I have named my new blog Mono Inclinado as a play on words from my online poker days. This translates to "tilted monkey" in Spanish. I am approaching the end of my working days as a night shift hospital pharmacist here in the states (eastern North Carolina). I have decided to retire and move with my family to Nicaragua. I have become disgruntled (tilted) by work and by the direction of education and healthcare in our country. In response, I have analyzed what makes me the happiest and decided to pursue this happiness. My wife and I both love Hawaii, but this destination is out of our price range. We have found a place in Nicaragua where life is simple, the waves are great, the weather is great, the people are great, and there is a golf course on site. I want to "grow young" watching my children grow up. My wife and I are happiest spending lots of time with our two boys, and this move will certainly accommodate this. Though we will be moving away from my parents and brothers, we plan on coming back to visit 3 times a year. My purpose for this blog is to chronicle the ups and downs of our expatriation process. Along the way, maybe this blog can help or inspire others who may be considering a similar move in their own life. Hasta Luego!
